Last 'league' game of the season

The last game of the season saw Mellor return to our large pitch. In November, they left the victors, after beating us by just 1 goal. At this end of the season though, we'd upped our game and made it our win. The Blues played a good game, with lots of passing, resulting in more than a few assists to goal, and 6 different names on our score sheet!

Maybe it was the little mascot brought along today by Thomas that made the difference....

Pint-size pitch at Poynton!

Today's game was played on a wee pitch at Poynton. We did struggle a bit - used to a large pitch, the boys were throwing out of bounds, and as for running into space? Well, space was not at a premium with 20 boys squashed into a little space. Never mind - making the best of it, they ran, they checked, and they scored. Just not quite enough to win though. It was close, but by the 2nd half, Poynton edged ahead to make it their win.

Onandaga Cup semi-final vs Wilmslow

To say the game was gripping seems like an understatement! With both teams keen to get a place in the Final, it was close all the way through. Wilmslow were the first to score, but this proved to be the only time in a tight game that they were actually ahead. One of our more dramatic goals came towards the end of Q2 when we called a Time Out, and as the game got back underway, with only 18 seconds left on the clock, Michael scored to finish half time 3 goals up! Wilmslow started the 2nd half of the game with renewed determination, scoring 2 goals in quick succession, and this was the only quarter of the game they won.
With both teams fighting for every ball, it was a close game, but managing to stay at least a goal ahead most of the way through, the Blues will be making the trip to Rochdale to their place in the Final.
