In an impromptu game at our ground this morning, a combined Stockport/Brooklands team played a friendly game against visitors from the South - Spencer lacrosse club.
With 8 of our usual team away at the Timperley tournament, the rest of the team played a great match against Spencer, with two of Stockport's players scoring goals (Thomas S & Jacob).
Final score: Stockport/Brooklands 4 : Spencer 8
Next fixture: away against Norbury

Timperley 6-a-side tournament Feb 2011
8 of the U12s went over to Timperley for the 6-a-side tournament, where we played 4 games of 2x5 minute halves, in our group. We started out with a brilliant win over Norbury - scoring 12 goals!
Our 2nd game was against Mellor A, and Mellor swiftly took the lead with 3 goals in the first 5-minute half. Stockport quickly came back with 3 goals in the 2nd half but too late to win the game. Our 3rd game against Cheadle was close, and exciting to watch, as the two teams fought to stay 1 step ahead. With a win (3-1) in the first half, we equalised at 3-3 in the 2nd half, and won the game. Finally, we were against HMG2 and showed ourselves the stronger team, with another 12-0 win!
Unfortunately, we hadn't done enough to get through to the semis, coming 2nd in our group with 10 points. Altogether, Stockport competed brilliantly, and improved on their performance at last year's competition:
2011 : 33 goals scored 2010 : 13 goals scored
2011 : 4 games won, 1 game lost 2010 : 1 game won, 4 games lost
2011 : 9 goals conceded 2010 : 19 goals conceded
An excellent improvement, and a great team effort today. Well done!

At home against Brooklands
It was back to torrential rain for the start of today's match against Brooklands. Q1 saw the visitors taking the initiative with an early goal - and Coach soon called a time-out for Blues, when Brooklands were dominating possession. Soon sorted - Stockport then scored 9 consecutive goals before Brooklands were able to put away a 2nd, meaning tht Q2 was our best, with a 7-0 scoreline.
There was some good passing today - resulting in some great assists for the Middies and Attackers - giving Stockport another great win.
It was also Max's debut for Stockport - and he fitted in well with the midfield line, being a great addition to the squad.
Final Score: Stockport 13 : Brooklands 6
Quarter Scores: 3-1 / 7-0 / 1-3 / 2-2
Next fixture: no match next Sat, but, there will be a training session instead at 10am
Sunday 27th: 6-a-side competition at Timperley. All support welcome to come and cheer the team on!

Away at Cheadle
For once, we had some sunshine for today's match - on the pitch too, with a new record number of goals scored!
The blues got off to a great start in Q1, with 5 goals in the net before Cheadle put one past us. It was a great game, with Cheadle putting up a good fight, and not letting Stockport rest on our laurels. With a couple of our players missing, our defence line wasn't as strong as usual, allowing our opponents to put a few goals on their score sheet too.
Some personal player highlights today include:
A hat-trick for new team member Thomas S;
A hat-trick for Cameron too!
His best goal record - with 6 goals scored - for Danny
A first goal for Matias
A total of 50 goals this season for Edward
Final Score: Cheadle 14 : Stockport 21
Quarter Scores: 2-6 / 3-5 / 4-5 / 5-5
Next fixture: at home against Brooklands
