Poynton come to play

We swapped Poynton's pint-sized pitch this week, for our first team pitch, as the scheduled ground was suffering with the wet weather.  And from the run to goal for Michael from the first face, we got off to a good start.  Poynton weren't going to be an easy opponent though, and the first quarter was close, finishing in a 2-2 draw. Stepping up their game in the next two quarters, Stockport made the game their own, and really pulled it together.  Poynton took their chance to even up the score in the last quarter when our newer boys took to the field.

Final Score  Stockport 11 : Poynton 8
Quarter Scores:  2-2 / 2-1 / 6-0 / 1-5

Next fixture: at home vs Brooklands in the Quarter Finals of the Onondaga Cup!

Off to HMG

Our first trip to HMG's ground in a few seasons, and the game got off to a wet and blustery start.  Stockport got off to a flying start with a convincing win in Q1.  HMG came back in Q2 to give our defenders a run round.  With the half time score at 3-11, it wasn't long before Stockport rang the changes, and in Q4, next season's U12s took possession of Stockport's side of the field, with only a small helping hand from 1 or 2 of our 'veterans'.  This gave HMG a draw in the last quarter bringing the final score to 9-19.

As HMG had a couple of new players with no 'photo consent', the blog pics this week have only our players on. So, there's just a few group shots, then a few 'solo shots', where I could get them.

Final Score -  HMG 9 : Stockport 19
Quarter Scores:  0-7 / 3-4 / 1-3 / 5-5

Next fixture: to be advised...
I think he's spotted the ball
