U12s 6-a-side tournament Feb 28th 2010

8 of the boys went to Timperley to compete in the 6-a-side tournament.
We had a great - albeit chilly - day, winning one of our 4 games, and scoring quite a few goals.
Well done boys!

away at Timperley

In a change to plan, we went over to play Timperley B on their astro-turf today.
Sam made a return to defence, and our first goal of the day came from another of our recent recruits - Callum. Well done Callum!
As Thomas the Goalie had to leave early, we had a blast from the past with Matthew back in goals for us for the second half.

Final score: Timperley B 12, Stockport 2
Next fixture: away at Rochdale

give it some welly, Lukey!

At home versus Norbury

We got a good start in the first quarter, with 2 goals putting us in the lead.
But, Norbury realised it wasn't going to be as easy as they had thought - when they saw our smaller side up against their older, bigger boys - and notched it up a gear to win Q2.
With a couple of our regular boys away for half term this week, this meant a reshuffle around the field for the boys in blue, and that, with little/no chance for substitutions, meant that Norbury went on to win the game.
Stockport played well though, and it was a return to form this week for them.

Today was also the debut of new ref John!

final score: Stockport 3, Norbury 10
Next fixture: vs Timperley B

Stick with it Andy

Away at Ashton

On our first trip to Ashton's ground, but our second match against them this season - there were a few highlights and a few 'could do betters'!
Let's start with the main highlight - Robert's first goal (in Q3) in only his second match. Although, I'm not sure that was the main highlight - I think that that may have been his mum's celebration of said goal!
The sloping pitch and the heavy, uneven ground was a 'could do better'!
The boys did pretty well -scoring 3 goals, well, 4 but one was discounted as having been inside the crease... but not as well as when we last met Ashton, at home, and came out the victors.

Final score: Ashton 12 - Stockport 3
next fixtures: Sat at home vs Norbury, and, Sun away at WACS

At home against Mellor

We got the game off to a good start today - with a goal in the first minute - however, this was not a taste of things to come, unfortunately! The team looked a bit all over the place, and in spite of a decent first quarter, when we were able to more or less match up to the Mellor boys, this didn't last into the second half of the game.
There were some positives - a few good runs and shots on goal, Robert's first play in a match and Matias looking good for being a new recruit. On the downside though, Edward only managed half the game due to injury, Mellor's bigger players seemed to do a lot of pushing of our lads, and Stockport were looking a bit downhearted towards the end...

So, let's dust ourselves down, and sharpen our skills for our next game, where we will do better than today!

Final Score: Stockport 4 : Mellor 22
Next fixture: away at Ashton

passing before being checked!
