At home to Timperley B

Timperley B took the place of Heaton Mersey at today's fixture due to a shortage of players at that club because of half term. We were down on numbers ourselves with illness, injury and holidays claiming a few of our usual team.
Well done to Jack and Callum - our latest signings - for their fearless enthusiasm.

Coach's Tip of the Day : Run into space!

Thanks to Bev and John for the change of menu - judging from the speed the hotdogs disappeared, they were very much appreciated by the teams!

Final score: Stockport 0 : Timperley B 15
Next fixture: away at Poynton

Oldham in the sun!

It was off to Oldham for today's match, and after our last outing there, we were all wrapped up - but the sun was shining, and Oldham were on form...!
The game started off with 2 goals in quick succession from the Home side but we finished Q1 only 1 goal down at 3 to Oldham and 2 to ourselves.
The less said about the goals in Q2 the better, as there were many more from the Home team than from the Stockport boys :(
Once again, Thomas did really well with some great saves - picking up an injury to his leg in the process. Lewis will have a bruise to his arm after deflecting a ball from goal with it!
The passing was coming together though, with some good game play around the goal. Toby looked strong in defence with some effective player pushing (don't think that's the correct term!), whilst Cameron F is really getting into the game after only a couple of weeks play, and got stuck into both attacking and defending.
The team said goodbye this week to 2 of our older players - to Defender Charlotte who has gone over to Girls Lacrosse now, and to Captain Jamie off to the U14s.
That said, our numbers are looking good with a batch of new recruits. Jack and Mackenzie got a chance in Q4 to get a feel for the game, and hopefully all our new 'signings' will stay with us for many games to come.

Final score: Oldham 14, Stockport 5
Next Fixture: at home to Heaton Mersey

1st home games of the season

The first games at our home ground were 2 thirty minute games against Cheadle and WACS.
It was great to see yet more new recruits keen to play for our U12s. We also welcomed Finlay and Harrison Blewitt back for their first outing of the season, as well as Coach Sam from his trip abroad.
Whilst our boys had a lot of possession, and Defence played well, with Thomas saving a good few goals, the visiting teams were the ones to put the ball in the net. Several times!
With both the visiting teams having players that made our team look tiny in comparison, they did a sterling job to keep the score out of double figures.

Final scores:
Stockport 0 Cheadle 9
Stockport 0 WACS 7 (may have been 8, but I'd gone to help with the soup!)

Windy weather at the home of the Flags

The second fixture of the season for the Stockport U12s was a trip up to windy, wet Rochdale for two short games against Rochdale and Timperley B.

After a slow start from the hosts involving no goal posts (!), play eventually got underway before the boys were almost blown off the pitch!
With Thomas Lloyd away at cub camp, the position of goalie was taken on by Cameron, who did a great job for only his second game.
In the 15 minute game, we scored 4 goals (Edward & Jamie) to get ourselves our first win of the season.

With the boys warmed up and eager to carry on after their win, Coach volunteered to stay on the pitch to be the first to take on the other visiting team - Timperley B.
Another 15 minute game saw Stockport with 3 more goals under their belt with Edward, Jamie and Matthew putting the ball away.

Final Scores: Stockport 4 : Rochdale 2
Stockport 3 : Timperley B 1
Next fixture : at home to WACS and Cheadle

NEW 2009/2010 SEASON - The Year of the Lacrosse World Cup!

After a couple of training sessions, the new season for the Stockport U12s got underway at Brooklands Lacrosse club.

It was the first match for our new recruits, Cameron, Cameron and Kai. Welcome to Stockport Lacrosse boys!

The first game of the season got off to a slow start for our team. The first two quarters saw them getting back into their game, and finding their feet. They got into their stride in the second half of the game though, and although its not down as a win on the score sheet, there were a couple of goals and the team was starting to gel again.
Cameron did an excellent job in his debut in defence and little Cameron got stuck into the game and didn't shy away from boys twice his size!

Final score 13 : 2. Next fixture: away at Rochdale
