U11s tournament

Saturday saw next season's U12s, aka the U11s, enter the 8 a side tournament, held at our club.
Winning three of the four 'round robin' games earned us a place in the semi-final!
Unfortunately, that was where we exited the competition, but the boys did really well in their first games as a new team and all their training showed in the way they played.  A bit more practise as a team, and they'll be good to go in the new season.

Also, we say Goodbye and Good Luck to Matias, who played in his final match for Stockport before going away to his new life in Norway! Good Luck Matias!

Please note: no games, or practise, on Easter Weekend as the Easter 8s competition takes place over Saturday and Sunday.  All spectators welcome

Next practise: Sat 14th April

Semi Final vs Mellor

Into the semi final, and the second game today against Mellor.  Mellor were the first to score, but we came back with 2 goals before they evened the score up before half time.
The second half went more Mellor's way, and they went on to win a place in the Final.
Final Score:  Stockport 3  Mellor 8  (2-2 / 1-6)
Scorers:  Danny

All in

Over they go!

Sitting on the opposition

Game 4 vs Norbury

Back on form for the last of the round-robins and another win for Stockport took them into the semi-finals of the tournament!
Final Score:  Stockport 6  Norbury 1  (3-1 / 3-0)
Scorers: Danny (4), Cameron (2)

Goal for Cameron!

Oof!

Getting messy....

Successful check

Goal!

Game 3 vs Mellor

This saw the first defeat of the tournament for Stockport.  Straight back on after the win against Poynton, and Mellor had the upper hand.
Final Score :  Stockport 2  Mellor 5
Scorers:  Danny, Matias

Game 2 vs Poynton

After a short break, the blues were ready to take on the Blackbirds - and another decent win on the scoreboard!
Final Score:  Stockport 8  Poynton 2  (8-0 / 3-1)
Scorers : Danny (5), Cameron (2), Matias (1)

Game 1 vs Cheadle

Up against Cheadle, and the boys in blue got off to a good start with 11 goals in the back of the net!
Final score:  Stockport 11  Cheadle 1  (8-0 / 3-1)
Goals: Danny (6), Cameron (2), Matias (2), Lewis (1)

National Final vs Timperley

After a great semi-final game, that got them a place in the Final against Timperley, Stockport didn't really play to their full potential in this game.  They started off well, with the first goal, but by half time were chasing the game. First in the net in the second half still didn't give them the boost they needed, and Timperley took their chance - and took the gold medals.
Final Score  Timperley 6 : Stockport 3
Half scores:  3-1 / 3-2

Happy Birthday to our super-goalie, Ben - 12 today!

Next Fixture:  U11s Tournament at home, on Sunday 1st April
TRAINING: 9am on Saturday!
Steady...!

Mike goes for it, as Red Helmet takes a rest

(Sorry, this would have been better if I'd paid more attention!)

Follow that ball!

Whoops!

Defence move forward

reachin' round

Reaching back!

Semi-Final vs Poynton

In a tense game, the boys played well with great passing as well as some good defending.  With 5 of their 8 goals being assisted, it was a good team effort that earned them a place in the final.
Final score:  Stockport 8  Poynton 3
Half scores:  4-1 / 4-2
Nice one, Cameron
